Holistic Wellness and Healing - Aadhurasalai

Sri Muthukrishna Swami was a great Siddhar, renowned for his immense skills as a Divine Healer. Till today, Pujyashri Mathaji Vithamma continues to share with all seekers, the methods of alleviating all manner of illnesses using powerful and yet widely prevalent herbs and spices that our land is so richly endowed with.

With Swamiji's compassionate Healing Grace, Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust conducts a free medical centre, the Aadhurasalai, at the foothills of Sri Pothai Hill. Free medical consultation with a doctor and distribution of herbal and allopathic medicines are offered to anyone who seeks the services at the medical centre. A special Mrityunjaya Homam is conducted at the Aadhurasalai for the entire duration that the clinic is open. Special ENT, dental, eye, skin and orthopaedic camps are held at regular intervals, with many beneficiaries receiving free spectacles and necessary medical or surgical interventions for specific health issues, also entirely free of cost.

Dr. Sritharan, renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon, Colombo, offers direction and guidance for the activities at the Aadhurasalai.

Enabling a Better Future - Sri Vidya Mandir Girls' School

A very special initiative of Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust is Sri Vidya Mandir, a fully free school for girls, affiliated to the State Board of Tamilnadu. In a region where illiteracy rates are very high, with most of the enrolled students being the very first generation in their families to even go to school, Sri Vidya Mandir has, as its vision, the rounded education and personality development of girl children, so that they grow up to be confident, skilled, resourceful young women, yet anchored in the core value system of India.

With the primary language of instruction being English, the children are taught to read, write and speak Tamil, Hindi and English, apart from intensive training in all subjects up to Standard 10 level. Extra-curricular learning includes music, dance, sports and Yoga as well. Vocational skill-based training is also given.

In addition, all the children are given unadulterated cow's milk in the morning and are also served a nutrient rich mid-day meal. Textbooks and notebooks are provided entirely free of cost, as are all meals. This access to free secondary school education of the highest quality is a boon to many impoverished families who live in the villages around Valliyur. Regular medical checkups are held as well. With a very dedicated team of teachers guiding them, all the batches of children appearing for the standard 10 certificate examinations have passed out in the first class, a great credit to the school and to the quality of teaching it upholds

Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthi (IIT, Madras) heads the Academic wing of Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust.

Protecting a Timeless Dharma - Go Samrakshana

Since time immemorial, the people of India have revered the cow as a symbol of abundance and prosperity. Everything that the cow gives is considered precious and highly medicinal, but unfortunately, many cows are slaughtered when they are past the stage of yielding milk or even in infancy, as male bullocks. At Sri Pothai Kshetram, over 200 cows and bulls are being cared for till the natural end of their lives. They are fed natural pesticide free food and sheltered in airy sheds with great love and attention. The calves are not deprived of their mothers' milk and are equally well nurtured. Regular ‘Go Puja' is performed as well. Go Samrakshana is a moral obligation that has always been greatly emphasised in the Shastras and Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust has upheld this Dharma for many decades.

Nurturing the Breath of Life - Afforestation

Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission, with the permission and guidance of the Forestry Department, has taken responsibility for the afforestation of large tracts of land, spreading for many miles, all around Sri Pothai Hill. It is the rampant deforestation of trees that has led to innumerable troubles and calamities, both at an individual and global environmental level. Without trees, our very lives would be unsustainable and Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission has taken up this task of bringing back a green tree cover to the dry and barren lands surrounding Sri Pothai Hill. Today many medicinal plants, shrubs and trees can be seen to spread across the landscape and environs.
