- Suran, awed by what he sees and realizing his error, wants to fall at Lord Muruga's feet.
- However, to bring meaning to the death of all his relatives, and to salvage his pride, he decides
to continue fighting.
- He accepts that death at Lord Muruga's hand is itself a source of pride.
- Lord Muruga disarms Suran and sends him back, telling him to return tomorrow.
- Suran returns the next day for battle, taking on many different forms.
- Muruga destroys all of them.
- Suran finally takes the form of a mango tree in the center of the ocean.
- Lord Muruga, with his vel, splits the tree into two.
- One part of the tree turns into a peacock, the other into a cock. The two forms attempt to attack Muruga.
- Upon Lord Muruga looking at them, their minds change and Muruga blesses them, keeping the peacock as his vahana and the cock as his flag.
