- The devas, once again, go to Lord Shiva and ask to be saved from Surapadman.

- Ganga takes the fire to Sharvana Poighai.
- In Sharvana Poighai, the ball of fire is transformed into a baby - Lord Muruga.
- Six Karthigai Pengal come there to receive Lord Muruga, and he makes himself into six.
- Once grown up, the six children are brought to Godess Parvathi, who then brings them together as one.
- One day, Lord Brahma, while passing Lord Muruga, refuses to acknowledge his presence.
- Lord Muruga stops him and demanded to know who he is.
- Brahma announces himself as the creator of the universe.
- Muruga asks him to demonstrate his knowledge.
- Brahma begins by chanting 'Om'. Muruga stops him and asks him to explain the meaning of Pranavam.
- Brahma, unable to provide an answer is sent to jail by Muruga.
- The devas go to Lord Shiva and request Brahma to be released
- Lord Shiva explains that Muruga has punished Brahma, not for lack of respect, but to make him realize that he, Lord Shiva and Muruga are the same amsa.
- Lord Shiva and Parvathi come to Muruga and request him to release Brahma.
- Brahma, released from jail, appologizes to Lord Muruga.
- Lord Shiva requests Muruga to divulge the meaning of Pranavam.
- Lord Muruga asks him to take position as a shishya. Lord Shiva accepted and was given the meaning of Pranavam.
- Lord Muruga did the same for Agastya.
- Amruthavalli and Sundaravalli, the daughter of Vishnu request Lord Muruga to marry them.
- Muruga instructs them to perform tapas, and once his duties are finished, he will marry them.
