- The devas, once again, go to Lord Shiva and beg for liberation.
- Lord Shiva decides that the time has come, bestows Lord Muruga with a Vel and instructs him to kill Suran.
- Lord Muruga, accompanied by his brother Veerabaghu, set out for Suran.
- Lord Muruga demolishes Krouncha Malai, the home of Suran's third brother, Tharagasuran.
- Lord Muruga asks Brahaspathi about the origins of Suran.
- He begins to narrate Suran's life.
- The evil sage, Sukracharya's daughter, Mayai, together with Kasibar, son of Brahma gave birth to 3 sons, Surapadman,Singhamukan,Tharagasuran and one daughter, Ajamuki.
- Under advice from their mother Mayai, Suran performed yagam for sixteen thousand years.
- As Lord Shiva did not appear at the completion of the Yagam, Suran then sacrified himself into the fire.
- Lord Siva resurrects him and grants him a boon, that only Shiva's amsa can kill him
